5 Movies to Watch for a Good Crying Sesh
Everyone has had one one those days, where you struggle to release an ocean of pent up feelings. Talking to friends or family isn’t cutting it, journaling helps for a moment, and distracting yourself with other things merely delays the real solution...having a good cry! You are not alone if you need the occasional cry to heal yourself. There’s nothing worse than trying not to cry when that’s all you can think about. Here’s a few of my favorite tear-jerking movies that will guarantee a good sob sesh, so you can feel fresh and rejuvenated.
1. What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993)If you’ve never seen this movie, please do yourself a favor and watch it as soon as you can. Leonardo Dicaprio’s performance is nothing short of amazing. It is a family-friendly movie that will make you cry tears of joy (as well as some not so happy tears towards the end). Nonetheless, a great and wholesome movie.
2. Selena (1997)I have seen this movie more times than I would like to admit, but it always leaves a lump in my throat. As we all know, the ending is where the tears will start streaming down uncontrollably. I can’t help it! No matter how many times I watch Selena, especially the final credits, I will always let out a good cry. It will forever be one of my favorites and hold a special place in my heart.
3. The Notebook (2004)Yes, I know this might be a cliché movie to add to the list, but it’s just another one of those films where I am destined to ugly cry. I love how the story is told and portrayed, even if it feels like my heart has been torn out. I will still go back to this classic time and time again.
4. Coco (2017)Where do I begin? First of all, the vibrancy and visuals of Coco are 10/10. The story is told beautifully and it does an amazing job of providing the audience a glimpse into the traditions of Mexican culture and the importance of family. I sobbed like a baby, but it made my heart feel so warm. I loved everything about Coco and what it stands for.
5. A Star is Born (2018)When I use the phrase “ugly cry,” I’m talking Kim Kardashian level face contortions. A Star is Born did exactly this to me. All of the movies I have mentioned above have at some point made me ugly cry, and I’m not ashamed of it! Just don’t look at me while it’s happening. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper did a fantastic job with this film. If I remember correctly, I was even covering my face at one point in the movie theater because I just couldn’t handle it. Very well done.
