Back to School or Back to Bed: Considering Big Life Changes
At some point in our lives, we all face major decisions that require a lot of thought and consideration - whether it’s deciding whether or not to go back to school, changing careers, or even just starting a new hobby. While it can be stressful trying to decide which option is best for us, there are a few things we can do to help make the decision easier.
Step 1: Make a Pros and Cons List
This may seem like an obvious step but many of us don’t actually take the time to sit down and write out our thoughts in an organized manner. When considering such big decisions it’s important to weigh the pros and cons of each option based on our own individual needs and goals. This will help you narrow down your choices so you can focus on what makes the most sense for you in the long run.
Step 2: Talk It Out
Discussing your options with family, friends, mentors or others who have gone through similar situations can be extremely helpful when making big life decisions. Hearing different perspectives from outside sources may give you a better idea of what path is right for you since they can provide insight that you may not be able to see on your own. Similarly, talking through any potential fears or doubts that come up during this process may also help alleviate some stress or anxiety associated with making a huge change in your life.
Step 3: Take Your Time & Do Research
It’s important to remember that making the wrong decision does not have to mean disaster - taking more time before committing yourself is often worth it when considering something as major as going back to school or starting a new job. Spend some time researching different programs available as well as any potential financial obligations that might come along - this kind of research can be incredibly helpful when navigating a difficult decision like this one.
It's entirely normal to feel overwhelmed by such massive life changes - after all, these kinds of transitions should never be taken lightly! By taking the necessary steps mentioned above however, you'll hopefully be able to make the best choice for yourself when faced with any big life decision in the future.
